OPENING TITLE
Black screen. Urban Sound scape is heard. Most prominent from those noises is the shouting argument of a man and a woman. At last the girl shouts,
ANITA:
Don’t fucking throw that engagement ring at me! That’s such a cliche...
Every other sound dies down.
FADE IN:
EXT. PARK BENCH. DAY
A woman of 27, Anita , is sitting on a bench on a corner of a bench. She is dressed in a pink T-shirt, blue jeans and snickers. She is silently crying. She is looking at a Ring which is placed on her outstretched palms.
An off-screen child’s cry is heard.
CUT TO:
EXT. PARK BENCH. DAY
Anita slowly shifts towards Rani, the kid. Rani is around 6 years dressed in white summer frock. Rani is sitting on the other side of the bench, crying over a popped balloon. Anita tries to talk to her.
ANITA
Hey... What happened?
(Picks up the popped balloon from Rani’s lap)
What happened to Mr. Balloon?
RANI
He did it. Raul killed my balloon.
She points to another kid playing in the park. Raul is same age as Rani ,dressed in T-shirt and shorts. He makes faces and runs away. Rani wails. Anita can now see a balloon-vendor nearby , gets up from the bench and walks towards him.
CUT TO:
EXT. PARK. DAY
Anita buys a big red balloon from the vendor. She walks towards the bench and starts playing with the balloon. Rani, who have now stopped crying, observes Anita.
Anita beckons Rani. Eventually Rani joins in the game and enjoys herself with Anita. They are now both joyous and laughing.
EXT. PARK. DAY
Rani finds Raul watching from behind the tree. She smiles at Raul. Raul smiles back. Slowly he comes near the girls and eventually joins in. One of these time Raul says to Rani
RAUL
I’m sorry. I won’t again. Promise.
Rani smile at him. Anita starts moving away from them.
CUT TO:
EXT. PARK BENCH. DAY
Anita is back on the bench sulking. She can see the two kids playing at a distance. She again takes out the ring from her pocket and puts it on her palm.
CUT TO:
EXT. PARK BENCH. DAY
Anita gets up from the bench and starts walking towards the kids. As she nears them, she pops the balloon and walks on. The kids watches in astonishment as Anita walks away from them. Just before turning the corner Anita throws something away. The kid run towards it to find out what it is.
CUT TO:
EXT. PARK GATE. DAY
Raul and Rani are searching the ground. Rani finds the ring. Raul snatches it and run.
Tears are filling up Rani’s eyes, she rubs them off and makes a run for it too.
